A workshop to introduce Palestine Open Maps (palopenmaps.org), and to actively engage participants in the collective process of digitizing the information contained within a series of highly detailed historic maps from the British mandate period (1922-48). These maps, now in the public domain, offer a vivid snapshot of a human and natural geography almost unrecognizable on the ground today, including population centers, roads, railways, topographic features and tens of thousands of sites of interest.
Participants should bring a laptop (and a mouse) if possible!
