Openly-Licensed Storyworlds: A workshop on recognizing collective authorship

What does it take to author a storyworld? No single person can maintain a contemporary, complex storyworld without the contribution of others, but this challenges our historical view of the individual author as godlike creator. This workshop examines existing management structures originating in fan culture and imagines what open licensing could do to value the contributions of others from a storyworld’s inception. We will originate a story world under a collective name in real time using characters from the public domain and choose the CC license best suited to its growth.
