Open Movement in Tanzania started long time in 2006 when Creative Commons Team was launched and hosted by The open University of Tanzania. The university that operates its programmes through out the country. The movement have had many activities that have introduced the concept of OER and licensing in the country, There are number of scholars today who are researching on OERs and many initiatives established on the same with the SADC countries. It is through these initiatives that, in Tanzania the first Institutional OER Policy was developed and operationalized towards the national OER policy.
