Half of world's languages (6500) might be dead in a century's time (UNESCO). Languages — not just a tool for communications, but a device for political/social freedom and expression of nuances of a society. A dying language can wipe off the cultures of the native speakers if not documented in an accessible format.

OpenSpeaks in an open, global, participatory platform for communities to learn about digital-documentation of languages with focus on endangered ones funded by NatGeo and supported by Mozilla Open Leaders Series. This workshop will be a hands-on session for citizen archivists.
