Wikimedia Nigeria | The AfroCine Project
Nigeria
With a background in Engineering; I have been a Wikipedian since 2011. I am a founder-member of Wikimedia User Group Nigeria (WUGN), and since its inception, I have served as the Outreach Coordinator for the group. I have helped to organize several editing workshops, edit-a-thons, awareness campaigns and contests in Nigeria.
I also kickstarted a project called "The AfroCine Project"; a multi-country, multi-faceted project which aims to encourage the contribution of content that relates to the historical and contemporary cinema, theatre, and arts sectors of several African countries, the Caribbean and the diaspora to Wikimedia projects and other open platforms.
My major goal in this movement is to make sure that the wide content gap and systemic bias which exists, especially in relation to the African continent is bridged. To achieve this, I aim to raise the awareness of Open projects as much as is practically possible, in Nigeria and beyond, so we can get more people to contribute from my region.
